MATT Phillips has undergone an operation on his injured toe.
The Blackpool forward looks set to miss what remains of 2012 after tearing a muscle in his right big toe last week.
Team-mate Elliot Grandin was out for almost eight weeks with a similar injury last season.
It is a huge blow to Pool boss Michael Appleton, who is also without the injured Gary Taylor-Fletcher. But Phillips turned to Twitter yesterday to reassure supporters, stating: “My operation was a success” and attaching a picture of his bandaged foot.
Pool continue to work hard to bring in replacements for the injured pair ahead of tomorrow’s loan deadline.
Appleton is working on at least two deals, with a number of players also potentially heading for the Bloomfield Road exit door.
And chairman Karl Oyston says he’s happy to back his boss.
Oyston said: “I’m sure Michael will want to bring in his own players and of course players will always come and go. The manager will want to stamp his own style on the team and I’ll be happy to help him.
“No doubt there will be players here who don’t fit into his plans who we’ll need to get out on loan.”
One player who looks set for another loan move is defender Ashley Eastham.
The 21-year-old has already played for Fleetwood and Notts County this season, and several League One clubs are said to be chasing the defender.
