Nathan Tyson and David Goodwillie fired timely reminders to stand-in Blackpool manager Barry Ferguson yesterday.

The strikers were both on target in a behind-closed-doors game at the club’s Squires Gate training ground.

They were part of a strong Blackpool side which beat the club’s high-flying youth team 6-2.

Goodwillie has made one substitute appearance since last month’s loan move from Blackburn, while Tyson, who scored twice yesterday, has recently returned from a loan spell at Fleetwood.

Nathan Eccleston, Stephen Dobbie and James Caton were also on the scoresheet for a side which also featured Angel Martinez. American trialist Freddy Adu played 45 minutes in front of the watching Ferguson and is expected to continue to train with the club for the rest of the week.

Dom Telford and Dion Charles were on target for the youth team.

Ferguson is hopeful that Jack Robinson and Ricardo Fuller will resume training after injury this week and will be available to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Pool boss Ferguson said: “I’ll need to speak to the physio but I did see Ricardo at the training ground, which is a good sign.

“Hopefully I’ll have Rickie and Robbo back this weekend.”
