Jose Riga signed a contract to become Blackpool’s new manager late last night before getting straight to work on building a new squad.
As our exclusive pictures show, the Belgian finally arrived at Bloomfield Road yesterday afternoon, a week after agreeing to take over as Pool boss.
The former Charlton and Standard Liege manager was greeted by chairman Karl Oyston at Preston station before being shown around Bloomfield Road and the club’s training ground in Squires Gate.
Accompanied by his agent, Chris Nathaniel, the 56-year-old finally put pen to paper last night and was introduced to club staff.
A formal announcement is expected from the club today but The Gazette undersands Riga has signed a one-year rolling contract with Blackpool.
He has already drawn up a list of potential targets and will get straight to work building a squad once today’s press conference has been completed.
It’s believed Riga has presented Oyston with a list of up to 50 players he would be interested in and the new manager has already been given the green light to make a couple of quick additions.
Pool have just six senior players on their books and begin pre-season training in three weeks.
