STEVE Thompson has been named as Blackpool’s caretaker manager.
The 47-year-old takes charge of the Seasiders after Ian Holloway quit to take-up the vacant manager’s role at Crystal Palace.
Thompson joined Blackpool in 2005 as head of the club’s Youth Team under Simon Grayson.
He’s enjoyed huge success as Holloway’s right-hand man and is a popular choice among Pool supporters.
Blackpool take on Derby County this afternoon.
And as news spread of Holloway’s departure, midfielder Angel Martinez tweeted about just how important today’s game has now become.
“I think today is one of the most important games this season,” he said.
“We believe, you believe, an all is possible!!
“Can’t wait for the match!”
