Ince wants 25 goals

Tom Ince

Tom Ince

TOM Ince has set himself a goal scoring target between now and the end of the season – to get to 25.

The Blackpool winger is the club’s top scorer with 17 goals so far, form which has attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs.

And Ince has his eye on finding the net at least eight times in their remaining 12 games.

“I always said when I was getting the goals that my aim is to get to 25 by the end of the season,” he revealed.

“But my priority is to work hard for the team and put in performances that will help us win games.

“If I scored goals on an individual basis then that’s great for me, but the most important thing is to get three points.”

Blackpool welcome Bristol City to Bloomfield Road on Saturday, desperate to get back on track after winning only one of their last five games.

They face three games in seven days next week, and Ince wants an improvement in Pool’s form.

He said: “We’ve had some indifferent form this season which has been disappointing.

“We’ve conceded stupid goals and gone behind in games early, which has forced us to chase it.

“We now have to look at being tight and stay in games.

“I think if we go one or two goals up in a game then we can go on and score more.”

Midweek results saw the Seasiders fall to 17th in the Championship table.

They are now six points from the drop zone, and
11 from the play-off places.

And England U21 star Ince hopes Pool can finally string a run of results together.

“Expectations have been high but the season hasn’t really allowed us to be up there at the top with Cardiff,” he said.

“The play-offs are quite a way away, but in this league you have to take it game by game.

“Winning three or four would see us looking up.

“But the main thing at the moment is to get to those 50 points as quickly as possible.

“If we do that we may have an outside chance as we always have good run-ins at this club.

“But we haven’t won two games in a row since August, which is disappointing for a team and squad of our quality.

“We have some great players but we have to start putting the desire and passion into games.

“We have to fight for each other and try to get back up the table.”
