Blackpool will turn to youth to fill their substitutes bench this afternoon, including 17-year-old Dion Charles.
The left-winger is a second year scholar at the club’s academy and has caught the eye of Paul Ince in pre-season.
He has come through the ranks at Bloomfield Road and recently represented Northern Ireland at U19 and U20 level.
His call-up to the first team squad comes after injury and suspension rocked the Seasiders.
They will be without Matt Phillips (elbow) andThomas Ince (suspension), while Craig Cathcart and Angel Martinez will have late fitness tests this morning.
Pool are expected to have a very inexperienced bench this afternoon, featuring the likes of Tom Barkhuizen and Banvo Anderson.
Barnsley arrive at Bloomfield Road having failed to find the net in their 210 minutes of football so far this season.
Meanwhile, Paul Ince has been charged by The FA in relation to post-match comments made following his side’s League Cup game against Preston North End on 5 August 2013.
It is alleged that Ince’s comments were in breach of FA Rule E3 in that they called into question the integrity of the match referee and/or implied that the match referee was motivated by bias; and/or brought the game into disrepute. Ince has until 6pm on 13 August 2013 to respond to the charge.
