POOL are reported to be chasing Nottingham Forest’s Paul Anderson – but they may have a job getting him.
Forest boss Steve Cotterill has made it clear he is determined to keep the winger at the City Ground.
Anderson played a key role in helping Forest to two successive play-off finishes and it was perhaps no coincidence that last season, when the 23-year-old was out injured for most of the campaign, they struggled at the wrong end of the Championship.
Anderson’s contract expires in a month, but despite the financial uncertainty at Forest – they lacked the funds to offer skipper Luke Chambers fresh terms – they will do all they can to keep a player they consider to have a bright future.
As a youngster, Anderson was snapped up from Hull by Liverpool and was a regular in the Reds under-18s side which won the 2006 FA Youth Cup. His performances at Anfield led to comparisons with Michael Owen.
However, he failed to break into Liverpool’s first team and joined Forest in summer 2009 for £250,000.
With his contract about to run out, Pool are understood to have opened talks with Anderson, who has made more than 100 appearances for the Midlands club and scored nine goals.
