Best of the all-rounders
A GREAT success all-round – that was the verdict on last week's primary schools' rounders tournament at Kirkham Carr Hill High School.
Carr Hill stages the popular event for hundreds of primary school children every year. The intention is to improve the quality of inter-schools competition and bring the community together.
The schools which took part in the 2009 tournament were Kirkham St Michael's, Kirkham and Wesham, The Willows, Treales Church of England, Newton Bluecoats, Wesham St Joseph's, Freckleton CE, Freckleton Strike Lane, Warton Holy Family, Warton St Pauls, Wesham CE, Weeton St Michael's, Weeton Primary and Singleton CE.
There were separate tournaments organised for large and small schools.
And it turned out to be victorious day for Warton schools, as St Paul's won the large school prize and Holy Family shared the small school trophy with Wesham St Joseph's.
Carr Hill PE teacher and tournament organiser Adele Jones was delighted with how well the all-action day went.
She said: "It just gets better and better every year.
"It's a great way of improving the quality of inter-school competitions and of getting the whole wider community involved.
"Many of the children who took part will be coming to Carr Hill in September.
"The tournament is another step towards helping them to integrate into the life of the school and in welcoming them into our community."
