Baptiste injury scare
ALEX Baptiste flew back to England from Latvia today ahead of the rest of his team-mates after a training ground accident.
The Seasiders defender fell in the final moments of a work-out and landed heavily on his hand.
While the rest of the squad aren't due back until tomorrow, Baptiste is returning 24 hours earlier to have a scan and to assess the damage.
"We think Alex may have fractured his hand which would be a big blow," said boss Ian Holloway, "but we will find out more over the weekend."
Pool have other injury concerns with Gary Taylor-Fletcher missing last night's friendly against FK Jelgava in Latvia because of a nagging calf problem.
He will have a scan at the start of next week but is hoping to be fit for the next Premier League outing, at Newcastle.
Rob Edwards limped off as a precaution in the first half of last night's match – which ended in a 2-1 defeat – but is not badly hurt.
DJ Campbell and Matt Phillips made their Pool debuts, with both looking lively.
