Wesham's Rob races to a personal best

Wesham's Rob Danson rewrote his record book with a new 5K best of 14:42 in the Mid Cheshire 5K at Kingsley.

Carmel Sullivan ran 20:31, while Anne Mayers-Smith finished in 23:50.

The Inter Club Fell Series had its first fixture of the year at Diggle with the Saddleworth Runners Cake Race.

Nigel Shepherd was the first Wesham finisher in 92nd place with 1:29.01, ahead of John Collier (95th, 1:29.19), Sarah Sherratt (103rd, 1:30.51), Alistair Morris (243rd, 1:59.25) and Kath Hoyer (160th, 1:39.50), who also finished 66th in Monday’s Wray Caton Fell Race in 1:04.27.

Rob Danson won the Avenham 5K on the May Day Bank Holiday in 15:57 with a 17-second lead through the park.

Jason Blagden was 33rd in 20:10, Stuart Topping 37th in 20:41, Diane Blagden 116th overall in 25:27, Graham Brook 158th in 26:52, Molly Watson 188th in 28:31; and Julie Rooney 241st in 31:37.

Alan Taylor ran in the Three Bridges 10K in Lancaster on Sunday, finishing 110th in 50:03, with Dave Young 131st in 51:50, Dave Waywell 159th in 55:12 and Paul Carter 223rd in 62:08.

Steve Myerscough took on the 24-mile Three Peaks Fell Race on Saturday, finishing in 321st place with a time of 4:20.09.

Martin Bates ran the Coniston Fell Race and finished 213th in 2:08.35.

Jason Blagden finished 21st in the Sheriff 10K in Scorton in a time of 43:26, ahead of Helen Lawrenson (25th, 44:10), Nicola Unsworth (45th, 47:01), Paul Eccles (79th, 52:19), Pauline Eccleston (105th, 57:07) and Claire Jones (113th, 60:55).

The Ripley Supper Run on Thursday evening in Lancaster saw David Taylor complete the four-mile circuit in 22:59, while Vicky Gore ran the inaugural Oswestry Hale Marathon in 1:55.26, finishing 294th.

Lee Barlow completed the London Marathon, finishing in 3:06.31, while Sharon Cooper ran well for 4:08.55.

There were eight Wesham members at the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday morning in favourable spring morning conditions.

Carl Groome ran the fastest time with 19:39, while John Bertenshaw was not far behind with 20:50.

Ryan Azzopardi finished in 22:54, leading in Phil Leaver (23:51), Finlay McCalman (26:44), Kay Twist (27:06), Stephen Twist (27:54) and Debbie Bell (30:16).

Tracey Hulme ran 23:12 at Preston, where Roger Leadbeater finished in 23:20, Robert Brown 25:28 and Paul Carter 31:08.

The Wesham parkrun tourists went to the Congleton run, with David Taylor running the second fastest time of the day with 17:3.

Steven Gore ran 20:38, Megan Gore 34:57 and Vicky Gore 34:58.

Simon Denye led the way for Wesham at the Blackpool parkrun with a time of 20:38, while Helen Lawrenson ran the fastest women’s time of 20:38.
