Due to the clash with the Northern Road Relays there were only two Wesham runners in the Preston 10K.

Rob Danson made his mark with another win, completing the course in a fast 32:25, more than three minutes clear of his nearest challenger.

Paul Carter completed the 10K in 59:31 before going on to run the 5K in 30:53 and, for good measure, the 2K as well.

Wesham fielded two women’s teams in the Northern Athletics 4-Stage Road Relays at Sportcity in Manchester and three men’s teams in the 6-Stage.

Starting 10 minutes after the senior men’s race, the women set off on their four laps of 5.9km, two laps on a torturous course around the Etihad Stadium and on to the car parks.

The A side of Helen Lawrenson, Tracey Hulme, Gemma Owen and Carmel Sullivan finished 37th in a cumulative time of 1:26.32.

The B team, which comprised Bernadette Dickinson, Kerry Eccles, Anne Berry and Tanya Barlow, was 63rd in 1:44.57.

Ugis Datavs completed the 102 miles of the Cotswold Way Century, an ultra distance event from Chipping Campden and taking in the best of the heights and the stunning valleys to end at Bath Abbey.

With a finishing target of inside 30 hours he completed the route in 26:37 for 12th.

Nicola Unsworth ran the Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham on Sunday, finishing as sixth W45 and 626th in 1:41.27 on a rolling, undulating course.

Carmel Sullivan ran the last of the 2016 Lancaster 5K series on Saturday evening, finishing 32nd in 20:22, as well as sixth woman and first W50.
