The Preston 10 proved popular with Wesham members and a very successful day out at the races in the final club championship race for the year.

Rob Danson recorded a superb personal best as he comes of age, running 52:34 to win the two-lap course around Longton by a margin of 41 seconds on a favourable autumnal morning.

This adds to his 10K personal best ran last week at Arley Hall in Cheshire.

Simon Denye was second Wesham finisher in 33rd place with 1:02.02 as he picks up the pace after his return from injury.

Lee Barlow was 39th in 1:02.27, Garry Barnett 49th in 1:03.28, Peter Cruse 56th in 1:03.59 and Carmel Sullivan 107th with 1:09.12.

Helen Lawrenson finished 140th with 1:11.53, just ahead of Alan Hudson who was 142nd in 1:12.01.

Mark Renshall was 158th in 1:13.52, Martin Bates 160th with 1:13.55, Nicola Unsworth 174th in 1:14.58, Ben Wrigley 241st with 1:21.41, Kerry Eccles 294th in 1:27.03, Tanya Barlow 305th with 1:28.17 and Paul Carter 363rd in 1:36.51.

The Wesham women won the female team event.

There were two Wesham runners in the 13 Arches Half Marathon, a trail race from Radcliffe out along the railway track of the old Radcliffe 12 but taking in loops of the linear woodlands across the M60 motorway.

Steven Gore finished 15th in a time of 1:33:06, starting off quite quickly and eventually finding the many hills quite testing.

Gemma Owen finished as 18th woman and 86th overall with a fine run of 1:52.49 for an event which had 224 finishers.

Jayne Hurst ran the Run Tatton Park 10K on Sunday and finished 508th and 198th woman in 59:08, carrying the flag for Wesham with a chip time of 57:39.

With the Lytham Hall parkrun closed for two weeks with the Arts Festival the nearest run was Preston on Saturday morning.

Simon Denye warmed up for Sunday’s 10-miler with 19:32 as he paced his son George to a course record.

Steve Myerscough clocked 19:43, Arran Galvin 20:41, Nigel Shepherd 21:03, Phil Leaver 25:01 and Debbie Bell a PB of 31:56.

Graham Cunliffe was out at the Burnley parkrun where he ran 31:03, while Michaela Dempsey went to Fell Foot at Newby Bridge in the Lake District and ran 25:55.

The Crosby parkrun was slightly over distance due to high tide.

David Taylor ran 19:29, Vicky Gore 27:45 , while Megan Gore finished in 36:35 with Steven Gore on parent duty and pacemaking.
