Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde AC’s Emily Japp continued her good form on the country at the England National Cross Country Championship.
She finished 25th in a time of 31:03 at Wollaton Park in Nottingham.
She had ‘hated’ the course at Knowsley for the Northern Championship but described the 8K course at Wollaton Park as ‘fun’.
In the field of 788, Jessica Judd of Chelmsford won in 29:07, ahead of Louise Small of Aldershot (29:10) and Northern champion Claire Duck of Leeds City (29:21).
At the latest fixture of the Northern Police League held at Altcar in Merseyside, Laura Lawler was fourth in the ladies’ race with 48:28.
In the Fylde Primary Schools Cross Country race held at Park View in Lytham, Holly Tickle won the Year Five girls’ 1.2K race in 5:47.
Connor Norman was sixth with 5:41 in the boys’ race, and in the Year Six race over 1.4K, Alex Maude was second with 5:34.
There was big success for the Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde AC pole vaulters at the England Under-20/17/15 Championships.
Fiona Hockey continued her good early season form, winning silver with 3.75m in the Under-20 competition.
The good news continued as she was selected to represent England in a match against Wales in Cardiff tomorrow.
Team-mate Jasmine Carey, taking part in the Under-15 competition, also won silver with a PB of 3.11m.
That took her into the UK’s top three Under-15 pole vaulters for 2017, while Hockey is fourth in the Under-20 rankings.
Elsewhere, Libby Bonis posted 8.34s in the Under-20 60m sprint heats.
On the road, James Greenaway posted a personal best of 37:09 for fifth place at Saturday’s Stanley Park 10K.
At the Lytham Hall parkrun, Michelle Tickle was 23rd with 21:38, Lucy Tickle 27th in 22:08, Steve Dunn 36th in 23:16, Jeff Wilson 98th in 28:25 and Howard Henshaw 149th in 33:57.
