Luke is lively for Blackpool

BLACKPOOL, Wyre and Fylde Athletic Club had a rewarding day in the Lytham Green Five road race.

Luke Minns (25.41) ran strongly to hold off the field and finish second behind international runner Antony Ford.

James Mulvaney’s rich vein of form continued and he took fifth place in 27.09.

With Steve Waterhouse taking eighth place in 27.34, the team prize was in the bag.

There were more prize winners across the age groups.

Trevor Uttley (30.10) took the V45 category, while there were also awards for Peter Broome (32.07), Kevin Woods (34.36), Stasia Bligh (34.46), Andrea Smith (35.01), Alison Titterington (37.29), John Winters (41.21) and Norman Greenwood (45.05).

The women’s team of Bligh, Smith and Titterington finished third.

Running in her first competitive race, Sue Shields finished strongly to complete the course in an encouraging 49.33.
