BWFAC pair pick up monthly awards

Japp ran the fastest leg at the North West Relays and the second fastest at the Northern Relays.

Weaver, an Under-13 athlete, has made good progress during the track and field season.

He crowned it by winning the 800m and taking second place in the long jump at the Blackpool Open meeting during September.

Also nominated was Jasmine Carey.

Volunteer of the Quarter was Derek Newton for his work as a coach, PA announcer at athletic meetings and organising a successful relay evening.

Also nominated for the volunteer award was David Wood.

First home and fastest in the BWFAC’s Handicap was Dave Williamson in 22:32, while Steve Dunn posted a PB of 25:58.

The other handicappers who competed were Peter Gibson (29:04), Anthony Blight (27:15), Darren Tremble (23:47), Andrea Smith (28:19), Nick Hume (25:21), Karen Dunford (29:53), Jim Unsworth (23:27), Regards Smallbone (28:31), Graham Davies (26:33), Jeff Wright (32:12), Tony Croft (35:48), Tony Airnes (33:01) and Matt Broadhurst (29:23).

Kirsty Holland had a busy day last Sunday, which included a very hilly Trail race at Scorton (60 minutes), followed by the Vernon 4 Mile race in Preston (37 minutes)

At the last Lytham Hall parkrun Andy Woodward was second across the line with a course PB.

Steve Dunn was 10th with 25:58, followed home by Peter Singleton (16th, 21:20), Lucy Tickle (19th, 21:36), Michelle Tickle (29th, 22:19), Jessica Mangnall (67th, 24:51 – course PB), Alan Smart (92nd, 26:58), Bernard Singleton (93rd, 26:58 – course PB), Bob Massey (125th, 29:13) and Howard Henshaw (166th, 32:03).
