Adam hits 'major crossroads'
CHARLIE Adam has admitted he's approaching "a major crossroads" in his career and has some serious thinking to do.
Adam is due to return to pre-season training with Glasgow Rangers a week on Thursday and insists that is all he is concentrating on.
But with so much attention from English clubs – Barnsley, Reading and Preston have joined Blackpool in the race to try to sign the midfielder – he acknowledges that he may be moving on.
"I still have three years left on my contract at Ibrox and, ideally, I'd love to see that out," said the 23-year-old, in his first full interview since leaving Bloomfield Road.
"I worked really hard to earn myself the five-year deal I signed in 2007, so I'm not about to do anything rash that I might regret.
"At the moment, I'm only thinking about being as fit as possible when Rangers restart training on July 9.
"When that happens, I'll probably discover where my future lies. I really want to settle down with one club, preferably Rangers.
"I've also had temporary spells at Ross County and St Mirren but I can't keep joining clubs on loan.
"I realise I'm approaching a major crossroads in my career. It's obvious I'll have some serious thinking to do shortly.
"My first priority is to try and resurrect my career with Rangers. At the same time, I have to be realistic.
"If it's obvious I'm going to struggle for a starting place at Ibrox, then I really will have to seriously consider my options.
"At present, though, I just want to get myself as fit as possible before reporting back. Then we'll see what the future holds."
A bid of 500,000 is likely to be enough to tempt Rangers to sell.
Ian Holloway and Karl Oyston are in Latvia to talk to Seasiders president Valery Belokon.
One of the matters being discussed is the budget for the season.
And with Holloway likely to emphasise how much he wants Adam in his squad, it is hoped Belokon may agree to give extra cash to fund a transfer.
