Advertorial Feature
Sometimes referred to as the UK’s answer to Las Vegas, the seaside town of Blackpool has long had a reputation of being a great place to party.
From fantastic shows and concerts, to one-off special events, here’s what’s going on in Blackpool over the coming months:
Blackpool’s Christmas Funfair and Light Show
A six week-long Christmas event which begins on 22nd November, there will be entertainment for everyone, including a family funfair with both adults and children’s rides, a Christmas food and drink court, a Santa’s grotto and an amazing light show in St John’s with characters from the Illuminations, like Postman Pat and the Tardis. From 6pm every Thursday evening, there will be entertainment from local bands and choirs as well as professional acts from around the country.
Professional Boxing
A night of professional boxing takes place on 14th December in the Winter Gardens’ Empress Ballroom, with a British Light Middleweight title defence by Blackpool’s Brian Rose as he takes on Sam Web.
Mighty Wurlitzer Concert
It may be smaller than the one inside the Tower Ballroom, but the Opera House Theatre’s Wurlitzer organ is just as beautiful and will prove its worth on 19th December with its first concert in many years.
New Year’s Eve Family Party
The whole family can welcome in 2013 in the stunning Empress Ballroom in the Winter Gardens this New Year. As well as a DJ, there will be live music from party band ‘The Floorshakers’, a children’s entertainer, lots of fun and games for all ages and hot food and snacks.
Showzam! Presents Circus Hilarious ‘Daredevils & Clowns’
Now in its 17th year, ‘Circus Hilarious’ has been spreading laughter and mayhem all over the country, returning to Blackpool on 18th February at the Opera House Winter Gardens with a new production ‘Daredevils & Clowns’. With their own brand of lunacy, magic and mayhem, Clive Webb and Danny Adams are expected to bring the house down.
The Illuminations may have now finished, but with its action-packed calendar of events, there’s always something going on to entertain residents and visitors alike. And it’s no wonder thousands of tourists book into cheap rooms and descend upon city each year, with plenty of accommodation options available here: http://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/book/blackpool-hotels,
