MOST people will be horrified to discover the hell our 999 workers go through on a daily basis, disgusted by the way teachers in our schools are treated and the disrespect shown towards our war veterans.
The majority would not dream of hitting a nurse or shooting at a fire engine.
We know some people go out of their way to honour our everyday lifesavers while others play their own small part in showing they value all members of society through commu
nity, religious or school groups.
The Gazette wants to
reward those who you feel
deserve to be recognised for flying the flag for respect.
We are appealing to the emergency services to nominate those they feel are working towards increasing respect among young people.
Perhaps there is someone working tirelessly for the emergency services who should be praised, or a volunteer silently doing their bit.
Teachers may feel their school council is setting a fine example to others, youth leaders might have a shining light among their group.
And even public figures providing positive role models could be up for The Gazette's Respect awards.
We want to hear from you, the public and our 999 workers. We want to know about the people you think we should consider for recognition.
Write down who you want to nominate, and what it is they have done which is so special.
Send your letter, along with your contact details, to Respect awards, Blackpool Gazette, Avroe House, Avroe Crescent, Blackpool Business Park, Blackpool, FY4 2DP or
e-mail heather.butler@blackpoolgazette.co.uk.
