Trinity Hospice is celebrating being named official charity partner of Lytham Festival for the second year running by offering a unique piece of music history from last summer’s event.

The 2015 festival raised £36,000 for the hospice which serves the Fylde and some star-studded memorabilia which goes up for auction from today is set to boost the coffers further ahead of this year’s eagerly-waited entertainment extravaganza.

At last August’s Friday night 80s v 90s concert, Trinity gave four of the acts taking part a blank canvas and a set of pens and asked them to ‘do us a doodle’.

The result was four little artworks courtesy of Billy Ocean, Venga Boys, Chesney Hawkes and East 17, and they are now up for grabs, with proceeds going specifically to the Brian House Children’s Hospice which is part of the Trinity complex at Bispham.

Ready to hang up, the pictures are a truly unique memento of the Festival.

Linzi Young, Trinity Hospice’s head of fund-raising, who was at the launch of the 2016 Festival with colleagues, said: “We had no idea what would happen when we sent the canvas and pens back stage, but these four doodles were the result, left in the dressing rooms for us at the end of the night.

“They look great together and make a memento that’s absolutely unique.”

Bidding for the four canvasses, which are being offered together as a set, opened today.

Email joanna.allitt@trinityhospice with your bid, putting ‘Festival doodles’ in the subject header.

The advice from Trinity officials is to make it an unusual amount to differentiate it from others and bidders are reminded to be sure to include their contact details.

Bids must be in by 5pm on Thursday, May 12 and updates will be available on Trinity’s social media.

This year’s Lytham Festival runs from August 1 to 7 and will features five nights of entertainment on The Green, including a live screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and concerts featuring stars such as Bryan Adams, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, the Village People and Collabro. There will be also be a host of events at a variety of indoors venues around the town, ranging from Lowther Pavilion to St Cuthbert’s Church.
