Seal of approval for new bus fleet

Passengers have given a big thumbs up to Blackpool's brand new bus fleet.

The first of 10 new double deckers was put on display to the public yesterday.

And the new features of the bus - the first of its type to operate outside London, clearly impressed potential new passengers and currentpassengers.

Mum Kristianne Frazier, 42, from North Shore, regularly uses the bus.

She said: “It’s definitely an improvement.

“I think the WiFi is a fantastic idea and I’m sure a lot of people will use it.

“I’ve been playing Pokemon Go using the bus WiFi!

“My stepson is a bus driver and I think he’d love to drive one of these.

“Hopefully we’ll get them on my local route soon.”

David Andrew, 52, from Thornton, commutes on the number nine route, on which the £220,000 vehicles will be introduced.

He said: “The service is already good but this is a real step forward.

“They look great and it’s state of the art with WiFi, chargers and leather seats.

“If the service is as good as the bus there’ll be no complaint.

“Maybe it will attract a few people out of their cars.”

Transport enthusiast Trevor Garner, 53, came all the way from Portsmouth for the launch.

He said: “It’s a lot brighter, airy, spacious.

“It’s great to see Blackpool Transport being first with a new product.”

The new Enviro 400 city buses will go into service on the Nine route on Monday.
