Elliott Charles Brian Jones, 30, of Warley Road, North Shore, told an eight-year-old girl: “I will smack you, I will hit you” before carrying out one vile attack.

Preston Crown Court heard he told his second victim - a vulnerable seven-year-old boy - that he would “batter him” and “smash his Xbox” as he attacked him.

He was found guilty of carrying out four rapes on the girl and four rapes on the boy, following a trial at Preston Crown Court earlier this year.

He went missing before the trial but was arrested after a police appeal.

Jones already had a previous conviction in 2003 for indecently assaulting two six-year-old children.

Judge Robert Altham, who found him to be a dangerous offender, imposed an extended sentence of 25 years and a licence of five years.

He said: “It seems to me this package of special measures is the very least the public needs. What really persuades me he is dangerous is the nature of these offences.

“It’s plain from the victim’s statements he has already brought these two children an immeasurable amount of harm.

He has absolutely no insight whatsoever into his condition.

“He will only be released if the parole board rule he is safe to be released.”

Paul Cummings, prosecuting, said: “Both children were under 13.

“There is a suggestion of threats of violence being made.”

Nick Kennedy, defending, accepted his client still refused to acknowledge he had done anything wrong despite the verdict.
