Some of the land abuts the Marton Mere Nature Reserve which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

A footpath used by the public, which runs through the area of proposed development, would be diverted and landscaped in order to maintain public access to the mere.

A planning statement put forward by the applicant says: “The proposed development would allow for some small scale expansion as well as some internal rearrangements of the park.

“This forms part of a package of development proposals aimed at enhancing both the tourism offer of the park and nature conservation interests.”
