Two men injured in ‘carjacking’ attempt

Police are hunting two men following a robbery and attempted ‘carjacking’ in Layton.

The incident happened at around 10.45pm in Devonshire Road, close to the junction with Talbot Road.

Officers were called to the scene in response to reports two men had been assaulted.

A police spokesman said: “An 18-year-old man had been driving a silver Vauxhall Astra with a 19-year-old passenger when they were approached by two men.

“One of the men has smashed the passenger window and assaulted the male taking his black and gold Armani watch.

“The driver, 18, was then attacked, with the men attempting to take the vehicle.

“The offenders then ran away from the scene.”

Both victims were taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital suffering with cuts and bruises.

The first attacker is described as white, wearing dark clothing. The second offender is described as black and was also wearing dark clothing.
