Police officers using a stinger have stopped a wanted man from entering Blackpool.

Officers from the Lancashire Roads Police unit spotted the man, who is wanted by police for what are described as “serious offences”, driving near the resort.

The driver failed to stop for police, so officers used a stinger to bring the car to a halt.

A spokesman said the offences originated in the West Midlands area, and said the vehicle was spotted in Lancashire.

It failed to stop and a pursuit followed, and officers used “police tactics” to stop the car on Yeadon Way.

Four occupants of the vehicle were arrested, and were due to be collected by West Midlands police.

The incident happened at about 7.30am on Saturday morning.
