A pig nicknamed 'Cookie' is still trying to find his owners after being handed to Blackpool Police.

The pig was found by a member of the public on Talbot Road, North Shore, near Layton Cemetery at around 2.20pm on Wednesday.

Nicknamed ‘Cookie’ by officers, the pig is around a foot long and 10 inches high, with a ginger body and black spots.

But despite lengthy inquiries, officers have not managed to track down the owners.

A post on Blackpool Police' s Facebook page said: "Thank you for all your comments and suggestions. Local PCSOs have made enquiries to trace an owner, we have liaised with several agencies also without success. We have confirmed the pig is NOT micro-chipped so 'Cookie' continues to be looked after by one of our Farmer Network Volunteers and is doing very well. In line with lost/found policy the rightful owner must come forward within 28 days with proof of ownership. Please be assured that after this time we will ensure the pig continues to have a happy life."
