A BLACKPOOL beauty queen is ready to see off competition in the Miss Teen Great Britain final.

Christina Avloniti, originally from Corfu, Greece, said she is proud to be representing the town she now calls home, as Miss Teen Blackpool.

The 16-year-old will be competing against 59 others in the final on Sunday, September 30.

She said: “I’m proud to represent Blackpool, it’d be nice to get a win here.

“I’m confident, but the other girls are gorgeous.

“It’s not always beauty though, personality counts too so I have to be good at everything.”

Christina, of Abbotsford Road, Blackpool, said she is confident of ranking highly after competing in other beauty pageants.

She was first inspired to take up modelling after watching Britain’s Next Top Model, but at first kept her ambitions from her family.

But it was difficult to keep secret for long as she beat more than 4,000 other hopefuls to the final 25 of Top Model UK.

Last summer she came second in Miss Halton Model Girl UK, and in October ranked in the top eight in Miss Teen Supermodel.

Christina credits working alongside older models as helping her to do so well.

Christina said: “The other girls at Top Model UK are quite a bit older so its good to see them so professional.”

Christina will take part in three rounds during the final at the Globe Theatre, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, including fashion rounds and interviews with judges.

Although she still attends school in Greece, Christina says she will be donning Jubilee theme colours to represent her second home in the own style round of the competition.

She added: “Beauty is big thing in Blackpool. I think the competition will be better here than anywhere else.”
