An entrepreneur is toasting his new venture in the hope it will become a trendy town centre wine bar.
Copacabana, on Clifton Street, is already proving a hit with Blackpool’s gay community but owner John Gregory hopes to expand its appeal across the town to appeal to an upmarket clientele.
The bar opened earlier this month and owner John Gregory says his new enterprise has already received good feedback from its customers.
He said: “We’ve had really good reviews and last Monday was probably our best night.
“The reviews we’re getting from the gay community are really good, they’re all raving about the place.
“At the moment we’re going down the cocktail route but it feels more like a bit of a wine bar so we’d eventually like to try and bring in different wines every week for customers to try.
“We’ve got lots of options as to what we could do with the place and, while we’re hoping to aim for the gay scene, everybody’s welcome.”
Four bar staff are currently employed with three DJs playing a mixture of dance and cheesy pop across two floors during the evening, while its 11am opening time means it also caters for those who fancy a quiet lunchtime tipple.
“John added: “The bar’s actually lovely with luxurious sofa areas and we’ve just had a brand new bar put in too.
“We’re opening from 11am every day and we’ll never close before midnight.”
