WOMEN on the Fylde coast are being urged to help fight cancer by taking part in this year’s Race for Life.

Registration is now open for the event, which will take place on July 10, on Blackpool Promenade.

The annual women-only event sees girls and ladies of all ages walk or run the 5k course to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Last year, in Blackpool, 2,418 women took part, raising £114,951. This year organisers hope to beat that total.

Laura Taylor, Cancer Research UK event organiser for Blackpool, said: “Women of all shapes, sizes, ages and levels of fitness take part in Race for Life.

“Race for Life is non-competitive. It’s not about being fit or fast.

“Most women are able to walk 5k in an hour while chatting and having fun. Or they can choose to jog, run or even dance around the course if they prefer.”
