Bosses at a Fylde coast domestic violence charity have secured funding to give support to male victims.

Fylde Coast Women’s Aid now employs a specialist male independent domestic violence advisor to support men dealing with domestic abuse.

The charity, based in Blackpool town centre, offers support through court proceedings, peer support, and temporary refuge accommodation.

Fund-raising co-ordinator Francesca Brett said: “We received funding from the Big Lottery Fund to extend our remit and offer a support service to male victims.

“We can provide one-to-one emotional and practical support, including attendance at court and liaising with other agencies.

“This is a new area of work and we are looking to make the public aware that this service is available.”

The charity’s helpline number is (01253) 596699.
