Woman robbed in street attack
Blackpool Magistrates Court
A St Annes woman was headbutted in the street as she walked home, Blackpool Magistrates heard.
The 19-year-old victim fell to the ground and battled to keep her handbag from being ripped from her by two assailants.
One of them admitted robbery when he appeared before Blackpool magistrates and the 16-year-old from Manchester, who cannot be named, will be sentence at Preston Crown Court on March 22.
He was remanded in custody until he appears at the higher court.
Adrian Hollamby, prosecuting, said the victim had been walking home in St Annes after a night out.
She got to All Saints Road when she was joined by a young man on the footpath.
She became aware of another youth – the accused – on the other side of the road.
The man at her side then tried to kiss her and when she pulled away she was headbutted, the court was told.
The second person then crossed the road and pulled her bag from her.
The accused ran off and the victim went home where she and her mother alerted police.
The sixteen year old was later arrested when he went to St Annes police station and claimed to need help getting back to Manchester. He was searched and the woman’s iPod was found on him and he was charged.
