A BOY was dramatically rescued from the sea by a passer-by.
The woman spotted the 12-year-old struggling in the water near Chatsworth Avenue, Fleetwood, at 7.15pm yesterday.
She jumped into the sea and pulled him to safety. A Coastguard spokesman said: “There were three lads who had gone wading out. One of them had tripped over a groyne and had taken some water in. He was out of his depth.
“He was under the water and he was bobbing about for five minutes and she went in to get him. She saved him. It was a very risky thing to do but she made an assessment and went to get him.”
The Coastguard team and ambulance crew were sent to the scene.
The woman and child were both taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, suffering from cold and shock.
Blackpool inshore lifeboat was also scrambled but the boy had been pulled to safety before the boat launched.
