A woman who illegally claimed £4,100 of benefits has been found guilty of fraud.

Micheala Forster, 38, of Corbridge Close, Poulton, was receiving housing and council tax benefits but failed to declare her partner worked for the Department for Work and Pensions.

Forster also became employed as a care worker but didn’t tell the authorities of her change in circumstances.

As a result she was overpaid £4,100 in benefits between November 2012 and April 2013, which came to light during a Wyre Council investigation.

Forster pleaded guilty to four offences of benefit fraud at Fleetwood Magistrates’ Court and was sentenced to a three-month curfew order to remain indoors between 9pm and 7am.

She was ordered to pay £200 towards prosecution costs plus a victim surcharge of £60.

Wyre Council will now seek recovery of the overpaid money directly from her.
