A BLACKPOOL hospital charity has announced its latest fundraising ambassador.
Liz Cassells has already carried out considerable fundraising to help open Duncan House, in March 2011, in the grounds of Blackpool Victoria Hospital – for relatives of leukaemia patients having treatment at The Vic to stay nearby.
Liz travelled from Barrow-in-Furness to The Vic every day to visit her husband, Graham, before he lost his fight to leukaemia in January 2010.
It was his hope families who had to travel could have a place to stay on-site and Liz helped bring this hope to fruition through numerous fundraising activities.
Now Liz has become an ambassador for the hospital’s charity Blue Skies Fund.
She said: “We’ve raised around £11,500. We’ve done lots of fundraising from walks to parachute jumps to events. I would always encourage people to donate and help Blue Skies; it really is a fantastic charitable organisation. Being asked to be an ambassador for Blue Skies has left me a bit speechless – such a humbling feeling.
“I hope I do them proud.”
