THEY tested their nerves facing the dizzying heights of Central Pier’s Big Wheel for 12 hours on the trot to raise money for a worthy cause.

The Wheelathon took place this weekend to bring in funds for Blackpool Pride 2012.

Eleven people donned the fancy dress and climbed aboard and raised more than £1,200.

They were sponsored to stay on for 12 hours and had a five-minute break every hour.

The team included Sharon Lees, John Nicoll, Andrew MacPherson, Paul Lomax, Dean Johnson, Loo Holt, Nikki Taylor, Chris Trumper, Christopher Laird-Wright, Keiron Woodhouse and Rodger Walker.

Organiser Sharon has previously arranged a Swimathon and climbed the Yorkshire Three Peaks along with her team of friends, all supporting Blackpool Pride and always raising more than £1,000 for the event.
