One hundred and sixty candles lit up the aisle at Rossall School chapel for a stunning New Year’s Eve wedding ceremony for Paul Gregory and Louise Laird.

The couple, who live on Gregson Drive in Fleetwood and have been together for 18 years, rounded off 2015 by exchanging their vows in front of all their family and friends.

Having planned their wedding day for months, they enjoyed every single minute with the New Year celebrations adding extra fizz to a fabulous occasion.

Louise, 30, who works as a housekeeper at the school said: “The day was made so special as we had very close family and friends with us throughout the day and they all looked stunning, we couldn’t have wished for a better day.”

The couple met through friends and their first date was to see Austin Powers at the cinema. Paul, a plasterer, proposed on Christmas Day seven years ago.

He said: “Louise didn’t think I was ever going to do it, I took that long!”

On the big day itself, Paul, 34, and Louise say it was full of every emotion possible.

Louise explained:” We had 92 people to our daytime reception and the church where we had our ceremony was stunning. Etienne, Rossall’s chaplain was fantastic, not just on the day but through the whole process.

“Then we moved to the cricket club and Linda from there had set up the room, it looked stunning and highly recommend it, the staff were superb and have helped us prepare all year.”

The evening reception was equally memorable with balloons, tables set by Candy Shack and entertainment from Zeta and Lee who had everyone dancing until the early hours.

Added Paul: “We walked into the room to a song which I wont say too much about as Zeta and Lee wouldn’t appreciate me sharing their secrets with everyone! “But these guys were unbelievable they had everybody dancing from 7.30pm till they turned the music off at 1am with with numerous different acts. The whole day was amazing and went without a hitch.”
