A JOB where you’re paid to test water slides in some of the world’s most exotic holiday destinations sounds almost too good to be true.

But for one lucky Fylde coast adrenaline junkie that could soon become a reality.

Dozens of candidates flocked from as far afield as Manchester to the Sandcastle Water Park on The Promenade to audition for the role - which comes with a salary of £10,000 for six months.

First Choice’s head of holiday innovation, Luke Gaskins, explained the idea.

He said: “We’ve got quite a lot of customers in this area so we thought it would be a good place to find some applicants.

“The successful candidate will be traveling to all our resorts testing slides, giving their feedback and getting a really good flavour of what the holidays and slides are about.

“It’s a real job with all the benefits you’d expect.

“We want a fun loving adrenaline junkie but someone who’s got a serious head on as well.”

Candidates have had to submit a video of themselves explaining why they think they’d be perfect for the role, as well as an audition tape which was filmed on the slides at the Sandcastle.

The winner of the competition will receive a six month contract and will jet off across the globe - visiting sun spots such as Egypt, Greece and the Canary Islands.

Adam Kennerley, 24, from Mowbray Drive, Layton, was among the hopefuls auditioning.

He said: “I think it’s a dream job and an unbelievable opportunity.

“It’s basically the best bits of a holiday all rolled into on and all paid for, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Fellow candidate Jordan Horridge, 18, of Durham Road, North Shore, said: “I’m not really doing it for the holiday, it’s just because I want a job.

“I love swimming and it would help my fitness too.”

Applications for the role close at the end of this month.
