DOG owners have been provided with special bags to pick up after their pets as part of a joint operation to reduce dog fouling.
Members of Fleetwood’s neighbourhood police teams have been out on patrol with Wyre Council’s street scene officers.
All five wards of the town – Pharos, Warren, Rossall, Mount and Park – were visited by the patrols, with 75 people being spoken to by the officers.
The action has come after members of the public raised concerns about fouling at a recent Fleetwood Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting.
PSCO Becky Ainsworth, of Fleetwood Neighbourhood Policing, said the operation had been a success.
She said: “Dog mess is unsightly and unhygienic.
“Residents have asked us to do something about this issue and we are acting on their concerns.”
Wyre Council officials say joining forces with the police sends a stronger message that dog fouling will not be tolerated in Wyre.
