The Fylde coast breathed a sigh of relief as the sunshine made a welcome appearance this weekend.
Not least in Fleetwood and Freckleton where communities were gearing up for annual club days and carnivals.
Hundreds lined the streets of Freckleton on Saturday morning to watch a procession through the village’s streets, featuring Rose Queen Libby Steele from Holy Trinity Church for Club Day.
Stan Thompson, from the Three Churches Club Day Committee, said: “It was lovely weather of course, which was a bonus.”
Residents gathered to watch the Freckleton half marathon yesterday afternoon, before many joined a songs of praise celebration in the Methodist Church.
In Fleetwood floats, fancy dress characters, dancers and musicians were catch of the day for the annual Carnival in the port town on Saturday.
Carnival Committee secretary Ann Hanvey said: “It was fabulous, there were hundreds out for it.”
The celebrations continued with live music from Lune Deep, Indian dancing from Fylde coast Hindu Society and the Fleetwood Old Boys Band putting on shows in the Marine Gardens, plus a fun fair keeping children entertained.
And Joanne Bennett, Carnival Committee treasurer, added: “It’s brilliant for the town.
“There were lots of people saying we need more of this, it brings the community together.”
