This is the section of railway bridge where an ‘explosion’ left a 34-year-old man with serious face and neck burns after a hydraulic jackhammer went through an underground electricity cable.

Investigations are continuing into the incident on Garstang Road East, Poulton, which left 1,770 homes and businesses without power around 1pm on Wednesday. The worker remains at Blackpool Victoria Hospital with serious injuries.
