Blackpool’s biggest urban art festival is just days away – and to get residents in the mood a stunning design has been created in the town centre.
Bringing together the very best of international and UK based urban artists, the Sand, Sea and Spray event returns on July 10 for three days.
This amazing creation – showing a woman looking up towards Blackpool Tower – was created by 22-year-old Nils Westergrad.
Nils’ work can be found on walls and in galleries in Europe, America and Australia and, as well as having a keen passion for urban art, has also produced music videos and animations which have played in film festivals across the world.
He marked the work with his signature butterfly stencil and choses to create many of his urban art murals based on images of his friends and family, often saying he wants every city in the world to have a portrait of someone he cares about.
Robin Ross, artistic director of Sand, Sea and Spray, said: “It’s a massive deal to be bringing Nils to Blackpool.
The fact that he hasn’t painted anywhere in the UK outside of London and it being his first appearance in the country this year was just amazing.”
