A woman was knocked unconscious in a two-car smash in Blackpool.

One of the cars crashed into railings outside the One Stop shop, on the junction of Daggers Hall Lane and Hawes Side Lane, yesterday evening.

Police said the drivers of both cars were taken to hospital for treatment following the accident.

The junction was closed for around an hour after a black Fiat Punto and black Volkswagen Polo Twist collided at around 7.40pm, knocking down the shop railings.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “A 21-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman were involved in the incident. Both were taken to hospital.

“The woman was unconscious at the scene. The male suffered some neck and shoulder injuries.

“Around an hour later the junction was reopened.”
