Hundreds of mourners lined St Annes Promenade to pay their respects to a much-loved member of a hotel in the town.

Sandra Webb, 69, chairman and managing director of the Dalmeny Hotel in St Annes, died peacefully on May 15 after a battle with cancer.

Staff braved brisk weather to wait outside the hotel to pay their respects yesterday to a woman synonymous with hotels in the borough.

The cortege stopped briefly at the St Ives Hotel, which her stepson Michael owns, followed by the Dalmeny Hotel, which her daughter Zoe runs, and finally The Grand Hotel, which her stepson Richard is the owner of.

Liz Jones, marketing manager at the Dalmeny, led the tributes to Mrs Webb, whose family has owned the hotel since 1946.

She said: “Sandra was lovely – she was bubbly and outgoing and always so generous and kind.

“Certainly she was loved by all the staff at the hotel.”

The funeral was held at St Peter’s Church in Lytham, followed by a cremation at Lytham Park Crematorium.

Sandra leaves three children, Zoe, Samantha and Christopher, her stepsons’ Michael and Richard, as well as 12 grandchildren.
