A LYTHAM school has paid tribute to actor Pete Postlethwaite who once dropped in to share his love of Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

The Oscar-nominated star, who died on January 2 spent an afternoon in Heyhouses Primary in 2007 after teacher Caroline Skelly bumped into him in Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre. Elizabeth Hodgson, head teacher said: “Pete’s visit was an amazing day and everybody commented what a lovely man he was.

“He spoke very movingly to the children about his early life and how he trained to be a priest before changing directions and moving into acting.

“It was obvious he had never lost his northern roots and was keen to inspire the children.”
