A pensioner has been taken to hospital with head injuries after three vehicles collided at the end of the M55.
A red Peugeot 206 and a silver Citroen C2 collided on Progress Way at 3.05pm, resulting in the Peugeot going over the roundabout and the Citroen losing a rear wheel.
The Peugeot came to a stop after colliding with a crash barrier at the other side of the Junction 4 roundabout and narrowly avoiding the helter-skelter structure, while the Citroen’s rear wheel hit a van travelling in the opposite direction on Progress Way.
The man in his 70s and two others were taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
All of the vehicles have been cleared from the road, but traffic is moving slowly.
The Air Ambulance was called to the scene but it was stood down on arrival when it was decided the pensioner could be taken to hospital by road.
