An air ambulance was called to take two people to hospital after a crash forced police to close a road between Weeton and Wesham.

Police shut Weeton Road between the Kirkham Road junction and Fleetwood Road after two cars collided at around 4pm on Thursday.

Paramedics called to the scene requested an air ambulance that was used to take a man and woman to Royal Preston Hospital.

The woman suffered a possible fracture to her leg and injuries to her toe.

Police described the man’s injuries as “not life-threatening” but said he was due to have a chest x-ray.

At 6pm on Thursday, a police spokeswoman said Weeton Road will be open “shortly”.
