ONE of Blackpool’s new trams has had to be returned to Germany for repairs.
A door was damaged on the vehicle prompting its return to Bombardier’s factory in mainland Europe.
And town hall bosses were quick to point out the cost of the repair will be met by the manufacturer.
A spokesman for Blackpool Council said: “One of the trams has been damaged and Bombardier offered to transport it back to Germany to repair it rather than us doing the work in Blackpool.”
Trevor Roberts, managing director of Blackpool Transport, said the return of the tram had not affected services.
He added; “The one tram going back isn’t having any effect on current service levels.
“We up the frequency at the beginning of July but there should be other outstanding trams delivered by then so provision should be fine.”
Fourteen out of the final total of 16 trams have now been delivered.
