Traffic lights at two key junctions are to be temporarily switched off in order to monitor potential measures to improve traffic flow on Blackpool Promenade.

Signals at the junction of the Promenade and New Bonny Street will be turned off and covered up tomorrow, although lights on the south side of the intersection will remain as an on-demand puffin pedestrian crossing.

On Monday the same will happen at the junction of Talbot Road and the Promenade.

The signals will remain on the north side of the junction, and function as an on-demand puffin crossing.

Highways chiefs will monitor the impact of both initiatives to see their impact on the traffic.

The tests follow last month’s three week consultation into the traffic flow and usability of the Promenade.
