Police have identified the man who was hit by a train close to Blackpool Pleasure Beach on Wednesday.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said the man was believed to have been 32-years-old.

It is not yet known where the man was from, or who his next of kin are.

He was hit by the 12.50pm train from Colne, which was due at Blackpool South station at 2.39pm, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened close to Harrowside Bridge, moments before the train was due at the Pleasure Beach.

Passengers were stuck on the train for an hour and later services were delayed.
