Traffic came to a standstill on the M6 this morning after a man was seen lying on the carriageway.

Police believe the man fell from a bridge at Scorton, between Junction 33’s Lancaster Services and Junction 32 on the northbound side of the motorway at 9am.

He was not struck by vehicles, but was taken to hospital by Air Ambulance and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Travel time between the two junctions is 20 minutes and one lane is open travelling north.
