A man had to be rescued from his car after it crashed as he suffered a medical condition at the wheel.

The car became trapped under the central reservation on Preston New Road, Freckleton, just after 3pm on Tuesday.

Crew manager Jonny Williams at St Annes fire station said: “The car crashed into the central barrier and became wedged underneath.

“The man, who was diabetic, was able to walk away from the vehicle after he had been assessed by paramedics.”

The man, believed to be in his 60s, did not need to go to hospital.

The road was closed while the fire service cleared the scene.
